Resolutions or Results…which word inspires YOU? We are all accustomed to facing January 1st with a list of “things” to stop doing or improving in the year ahead. Yet by mid-January, we feel overwhelmed, frustrated and defeated because we haven’t accomplished our goals. Have you felt that way? I know I have! Year after year, decade after decade. This is where creating a VISON BOARD can help! And the exciting part is by changing our MINDSET we can move from an avoidance mindset to one of a CREATIVE mindset.
What if your year could be different in 2016? What if you CREATED a year that inspired you, that caused you to face each day with excitement and anticipation?
As a Health Coach with over five years of experience helping people DREAM again, I’d love to share one of the most helpful tools that my clients love ~ it’s a VISION BOARD. By focusing on what you want to create, you automatically enter a different realm of expectation and motivation. Remember back in your childhood during the time you decided you wanted to be a pilot, a fire fighter, a nurse, a doctor, a teacher, a mom {or whatever else it was that you desired}…remember how freely the excitement grew, the details emerged and you could not imagine life without having that “job”? That feeling is what I want to help you CAPTURE again!! Let’s get started!
WHERE TO BEGIN:
- Gather Supplies:
- Poster board of a size that you prefer. Consider bright colors or use scrapbooking paper to jazz up white poster board
- Old magazines, greeting cards, calendars, or any print material with inspiring words and pictures or even old maps
- Scissors or other tools for cutting
- A glue stick works perfectly for attaching to poster board
- Markers or letter stickers to add additional flourishes
- Get Busy:
- Choose inspiring pictures or words that help you create a vision of what will encourage you and motivate you in the coming year
- Decide if you will focus on personal goals, business goals, family goals…You can combine all of these into one Vision Board or even create separate ones if you choose
- Arrange cutouts as you desire and begin glueing onto poster board
- You may complete your Vision Board in one sitting – or you may decide to keep looking for pictures and words that inspire you and you can add them later. It certainly can be a work-in-progress!
- Make it Visible:
- Hang your Vision Board in an area of your home or office where you can see it daily and multiple times throughout the day! Consider near the bathroom mirror, on your refrigerator, in your office…wherever you are sure to see it.
- Take a picture of it and make it the background on your phone or computer
